Day two in DC was a success. We started at Arlington cemetery where we saw JFKs tomb, the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldiers, and the Arlington house. We followed that up with a trip to the White House. From there we went to the Holocaust museum and we ended the day visiting the Vietnam, Lincoln, and Korean War memorials. Another jam packed day but once again things were great.

Well, we left Uniontown at 2:20 am and arrived in Washington DC with no students freaking out about the plane ride. We hit the ground running with a trip to the Capital, toured the whole US Capital Hill. Followed that up with a visit to the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, Washington Monument, and ended at the WWII Memorial. Very busy day with a ton of walking and humidity. That being said, The kids were great, the parents were great and the World Classrooms staff was fantastic. We start again tomorrow morning at 6:45. Thank you World Classrooms for this awesome experience for our students.

I tried but I could not find a reasonable time to have the High School Spring Sports Banquet due to many conflicts. So, In-Lieu of a banquet for Spring sports I created some slides to announce and honor our athletes. Through next week you can come get your letter, bars, certificates, etc from the High School office. We are here by 8:00 and leave early afternoon. If not you can always grab them next year if you are an underclassmen. Patches have been ordered, hopefully we get them before school starts. Congratulations to all athletes and coaches. Hope you all have a great Summer.

Final track update for the day: PB&J were at it again with the triple jump. Piper set her PR with a jump of 34-4.75 which was good enough for 9th place, missing the podium by one place. Janae set her PR and broke the school record with a jump of 37-5.50. The previous record was held by B Griffith with a jump of 36-8 back in 2017. Janae's jump was good enough for 2nd place and put her in the KS top 10 all class. Great day for all and I am excited to see what tomorrow brings with all MVHS athletes competing again.

State Track Update: PB&J started off extremely well. Piper qualified for the finals in the 300 M Hurdles and broke the school record while doing so. She ran 47.99 with the old record being held by T Carlson in 1986 with a time of 48.8. Not to be out done Janae qualified for the finals in the 400 M dash and she also broke the school record. She ran a 1:01:83 with the old record being held by S Lewis in 1987 with a time of 1:01:90. Good job girls. Evan Kent has completed his throws in shot put and his best was 41-3.75, Good job Evan. PB&J have Triple Jump left today. All of four athletes will compete tomorrow as well.
