Title I School-Parent Compact

by Ken McWhirter

June 22, 2010

A student’s success in school depends upon many factors: the attitude of the student, appropriate curriculum, caring teachers, and the relationship between the school and home, and student and home relationship just to mention a few.  In order to help that partnership between home and school, we ask you, along with the school to sing the following compact and return it to the school.

As a parent I will:

  1. Get my child to school every day unless they are sick.
  2. Provide emergency numbers in case of accidents.
  3. Provide a place for study in our home.
  4. Provide a quiet time each evening so my child can study or read.
  5. Promote the importance of learning and doing well in school.
  6. Read with my child as often as possible.
  7. Talk to my child about what they are doing in school.
  8. Communicate regularly with child’s teachers.

As a school, we will:

  1. Provide educational activities that are appropriate for your child.
  2. Provide a list of teachers and highly qualified aides that work with your child.
  3. Provide progress reports on how your child is doing in school.
  4. Provide a safe, caring environment for each child.
  5. Provide materials that are appropriate for your child’s needs
  6. Maintain high reasonable expectations of your child.
  7. Coordinate Title I services with the regular education curriculum.
  8. Provide opportunities for your child to be successful.

Any questions or comments may be directed to Ken McWhirter, Title I Coordinator, Marmaton Valley Elementary, 128 West Oak, Moran, KS 66755
